I've always thought a Gremlins movie remake could be good, but only if they made it more of a horror movie... Just make it more like the Twilight Zone story though (The "Demon" Gremlin version from TZ The Movie, of course)

Gremlins from another dimension slowly start to enter our reality. A Gremlin causes a plane crash. The NTSB can't figure it out. Then another Gremlin causes a plane to crash. The NTSB still can't figure it out, and starts to wonder if they should ground the flights...
Then, a Gremlin tries to cause a third plane crash, but a passenger stops him and saves the plane. (See Plot For The Twilight Zone)
The NTSB now knows about the Gremlins, and grounds all flights... But now, with the dimensional rip fully open, the Gremlins now start damaging everything... Now the government must find a way to stop the gremlins, and close the rift.
