The problem with the dead superman was that it didn't accomplish anything. Exactly. He was never a pillar of hope in the DCEU films. He was never the Boy Scout in Blue. He was never the smiling savior of humanity who got kittens out of trees for children. He was never on good terms with the public at all. He was a frowning, glowering "god" that most people seemed to hate just for being. And his death happened in a fight most weren't able to see, and yet that somehow inspires them to change their minds about him? Say what you will about Angry Joe, but he was absolutely right about ‘The Death of Superman’ story being utterly wasted. |
