Oh, gee, NileQT87 (et al.), in all seriousness? A few, then: Grace Kelly tops the list. Utterly beautiful, and a true lady (a term not much in vogue nowadays, unfortunately). (and then in no order) Kay Francis, a delightful '30s actress who isn't as well known now. I love Myrna Loy, but I'm reluctant to put her on this list because she reminds me too much of my grandmother! Gene Tierney, forever connected with the mysteries-within-mysteries of Laura. Teresa Wright, who reminds me of a girl I knew many years ago... (Oh, Lordy, no need for sob stories. Stiff upper lip, old boy, and all that.) Poor, sweet, star-crossed Gail Russell, whom I shall always see as Stella by starlight. Donna Reed, especially as Mary Bailey. That scene--oh, dear God--that scene in which she gives all her honeymoon money to keep the Savings & Loans going. "How much do you need?" she says. Oh, Mary, darling, all I need is you. I know I'm missing a few, but that's a good start. I'm a bit of an emotional mush (as you can guess) and an ardent romanticist, heaven help me. I've noticed none of my choices were "modern"-- there's my innate young fogey-ism, I suppose...
