but AIMING definitely has something to do with general computer usage because if someone uses a PC in general, which a lot of people have for years now, they already have some built-in ability to point and click stuff on screen which applies to shooters. that's why i feel it would be easier for someone to learn to play a shooter with a mouse over a analog stick as it's likely easier for someone (like a more casual person) to adjust to because of someones general usage of computers over the years now strictly in terms of aiming at something on screen.
it just takes less time for me to get the crosshairs on a object on the screen with a mouse than a analog stick which is why i think a mouse is much better as, like i have said, it's a large enough gap for me to where it goes from where i can play and enjoy a shooter on a PC but not on a console because of that. i am just your average person whose played games for a long time now (i was born late 1979 so i basically seen the 2D to 3D transition in the mid-to-late 1990's etc) as i am no where near pro level either as seeing those pro level players play it's amazing how quickly they can take others out.
I don't see the correlation there between a pen vs the whole mouse/analog stick thing as no one uses a pen for shooters as if those were really better people would use them. look at all of the pro gamers as i am sure they want to get any advantage they can, especially when a bunch of $$$ is on the line, so if a pen was better they would be using it.
shooters are not fun when your handicapped by analog stick as it's takes more time vs a mouse (if i was only slightly handicapped it would not be that big of a deal but, like i said, it's a large enough gap to where i can't enjoy the games because of it) which i would not be surprised if some of that, in why it's more difficult for me, is because of the stick always wanting to return to the center position as, while i can't say for sure, i would like to see if i was any better at a shooter on a consoles analog stick if there was no return pressure (like to return the analog stick to the center position) and it moved more freely like a mouse does as i suspect fighting against that pressure makes things even harder for me. but i guess ill never know since, to my knowledge, no one makes them like that. because it seems like fighting against that pressure makes it harder for me to make more precise movements etc. i am only speculating here but i would not be surprised if that's at least some of the reason i am noticeably worse at shooters on a analog stick.
p.s. but i think i heard they may be bring a mouse+keyboard to the XBox's semi-soon (i don't know if that's official though or not) but even if that works good i likely won't bother as i never bothered with these current generation of consoles (i.e. PS4/XBox One etc) as XBox360 is the newest console i have. but since i tend to largely play shooters it's not worth it for me to buy a console now as while there is some games i would like to play on XBox One it's not worth spending the $$$ to play maybe a game or two.
personally i think it's more of a ease-of-use-thing in why a lot prefer consoles because with PC's there is more of a learning curve with knowing what hardware you got etc and issues with the games can turn up etc and potential upgrades as the average person probably don't know much about computers outside of the basics. so with a PC they can see things as more complicated where as with a console, you buy the console and whatever games you want and that's that, it works.
plus, like i already mentioned, outside of shooters, a console is definitely the all around better choice in my opinion for most people.
but i definitely disagree with the 'way superior' comment because that suggests consoles are better across the board (like PC's are almost obsolete etc) which is simply not true.
Keyboard+mouse do not feel natural at all for the large majority of gamers, and most of them already use the PC for other tasks. Gaming has nothing to do with working tasks.

And those pens are more accurate than keyboard and mouse, most people don't use them because it's not fun at all, the same thing regarding why most gamers prefer gamepads instead of keyboard and mouse.

And yes, gamepads for consoles are way superior and consoles are way superior in general than PCs for gaming, that's why the vast and massive majority does prefer playing on consoles.
