Yes, they do have that problem a lot.  As soon as she said "I can't hold both" I said "why not?"  She has lifted many things that were far heavier than that plane.

It's the curse of the overpowered superhero.  They are always just as strong as the script requires at any given time.

No it's the curse of lazy writing, you can justify it easily by having it not be she cant hold the weight but that holding the plane up like that isn't possible due to the strain on the metal, we just saw the front half snap off so they just established the metals not adamantium level strong, it's also bad they didn't just have her save Lena then the plane given she can move at least at speeds of Mach 3 and the plane wasn't falling that fast, hell the fact the plane was still falling despite her holding it was fucking stupid, she could have flown in grabbed Lena then grabbed the other half of the plane lickity split.

This is what annoys me because writing a valid enough excuse for that scene to play out like that isn't hard, also makes no sense if they are building up to a Supergirl Vs Reign battle  how imposing a threat is it if Supergirl is constantly shown struggling with such trifle feats?
