Even though she has dry food out all the time, the most excited she gets about food is when I pour more on top of it. Her 1st preference is dry food, her 2nd is dried up leftover wet food from the day before and its remnants. She never notices when I open a fresh can of wet food. When I first got her, she reacted to the can opener sound due to whoever was feeding her then. It's tough to get her to drink water. She will on very rare occasions. She doesn't really notice when I put down treats, or wet food, because she pays more attention to me. But then looks down and invariably misses them. She will never touch pate style food at all. You will rarely see cats drink water. They do it on the sly. If you see them drinking water, and they drink it a lot, time to have them checked out. It may be a kidney issue.
Our cats eat wet food only. The vet prohibited dry food as it has a lot of empty calories. These cats are big - almost 16 pounds each. They are siblings. We have a bowl of food and water for each of them. One day she will eat only from the left bowls, and he the right. Other days, the opposite. They never eat from the same bowl, though. They are creatures of habit.
Maybe she's not fond of the wet food you are feeding her. Cats, as you know, are notoriously finicky.
