I had a mcrib one just so I'd know. I haven't had another one. It was ok.
Honestly there are tons of fast food places I'd go before McDonald's. It's better than burger king or krystal's or something, but I'd much rather go to an Arby's, Chic Fila, Sonic, Pollo Tropical, Panda Express, and even Wendy's has a much better burger quality and selection and far better chicken nuggets and the fries are solid. And then there are places like Tropical Smoothie, Qdoba, Pei Wei, etc. McDonald's is one of those places I only go if I'm in some small town with like two options and one of those options is an outhouse.
The Big Mac is it for me. Their meat is cardboard-flavorless. The sauce is what makes the product. But it's iconic. Known around the world. I can't stand slurpees, but 7/11 sells a ton of them. So same concept. Someone buys 7/11 & eliminates the slurpee as too unhealthy to exist. You don't muck with a working formula. I'm in SoCal. We have In-n-Out. It would be like them installing freezers. It's funny you brought up In-N-Out because I had this same conversation with a co-worker when I was out there. My first impression was that it was definitely good, but I didn't get the herd gotta have it aspect of it.
