WTF did Desiree Washington invite Mike Tyson up to her hotel room for a 2:00am (or whatever it was) in the morning.
do you think he wanted milk and cookies?
be careful out there fellas - be careful.....
Mike Tyson does seem the rapey type though, you gotta admit!
There is one interview with Tyson, which I'm sure you've seen, at a press gathering at his gym, where journalists were asking questions, and a female journalist asks a question which Tyson responds with:
"are you talking out of turn?".
She replies "I think we're all asking questions"
He replies "well normally, I only do interviews with females if I can fornicate with then... so you better not say another word, unless you want to... you know". And it was pretty menacing the way he said it too.
So basically what Mike Tyson is saying here is; if you say another word that gives me permission to have sex with you.
And by the way, who born in the 20th century still uses the word 'fornicate'?
Is that a common word in America? And I'm sure you've heard the story of Teddy Atlas holding a gun to his head when he was 17 or 18 or something, after he touched up a 14 year old, and he told Tyson at gun point "if you touch her again I will kill you".
And his ex-manager said this rape charge was only a matter of time before it happened.
And his other ex's have spoken about abusive relationships with him.
And although Tyson still protests his innocent (and sounds quite believable I have to admit), he has let his guard slip when he's said "the thing I can't understand is there are about 7 or 8 incidents where I've done much worse than what I did to her, and I didn't get charged for those". What he means by this I'm not 100% sure. But if he isn't guilty of this, he has definitely done something!
And finally, it was Tyson's room it happened in, not hers. That's one thing they both agree on. He claims that they had already talked about having sex, and what he was going to do when they got in the room. She claims nothing of the sort, she said they were supposed to be going out on a date, he picked her up in his limo, they went straight to his hotel unbeknown to her, and Tyson said "I've just got to pick something up from my room, then we'll go", and she (naively) agreed to go with him. And that's when he suddenly turned into a different person. According to her. In fairness she was 18 at the time, and a church going girl, I'm sure you were a lot more naive about the world when you were 18 compared to what you are today. And we've all seen Tyson in interviews, one minute he can be softly spoken, charming, fun, the next moment he can suddenly turn on a sixpence and become a raged animal.
She also had vaginal damage, and Tyson's limousine driver describes seeing her come out looking shocked, upset, dazed, with her hair messed up. Tyson claimed in his statement that before she left she was actually dancing in the mirror and fixing up her hair, which is counter to the limo driver's claim her hair was messed up.
Well either way, it is a shame from a sporting perspective we missed some of Tyson's peak years, but I don't know if I would be quite so quick to say "he didn't do it".
We'll never know for sure, but c'mon, the guy was bad news, but I'm glad he seems to be mellowing today at least, and finding peace. Let's hope she has as well.
