stickman38: lol NO, it doesn't taste like cake. That's just the label. They also put out Zinfandel, Malbec, Shiraz and maybe some others. But, they all have the Layer Cake label (and the picture of the cake on the front).
This Cab was very good, as far as sub-15 dollar Cali Cabs go. A bit "fruit forward" as they say (read: slightly sweet, but not overly so). Good tannins and medium/medium full body. Sure, there are more "heavy hitters" to be found amongst Cali Cabs, but you pay for them! This one's a very good bargain, IMO.
BTW, this one comes with a screw cap - i.e. not corked. So it's pretty convenient to take as a gift or bring to a dinner party.
