When I lived in Los Angeles, people used to swear to me up and down that Jerry's Famous Deli was as good as anything you can find on the east coast when it comes to quality jewish deli. Those people are just wrong. Jerry's is a fine facsimile but it's not just the same. East coast jewish deli shits on west coast jewish deli. The sushi and mexican food, however, are second to none. Every time I'm on the west coast I go to town on that stuff. LOL The east coast is so much better when it comes to food I just moved to pennsylvania after spending 34 and 2/3rds of my life on the west coast I don't think that's a universal truth (about the food; not about you moving to PA, that part is true in all likelihood). Sure, the east coast has better pizza, bagels and overall deli fare in general, but the west coast blows us out of the water when it comes to sushi and mexican food. Save for a top spot in Manhattan (I'm becoming a huge fan of omakase places), your average sushi spot on the west coast is going to be hands down better than anything we have to offer on our side of the country.
