I don't understand all of the negative reviews.

Critic scores are irrelevant when discussing what audiences like.

MCU movies are as straight forward and simple as can be, that doesn't mean they're bad but there's nothing deep about them.

First Avenger was one of the only recent WWII era movies I've seen that bothered pointing out not every German in WWII was a baby-eating Lunatic and that America didn't win the war on its own.

I'll take stuff like that over Synder's Jesus symbolism.

 Jesus that is absurd - you need to see more WWII war movies it seems, you know ones without laser gun battles in the time of shoah and Hail Hydra crying tomato head-villain cartoons. 

May I suggest Valkyrie, Das Boot or Fury or even Inglorious Basterds...?
