Maniac Cop 2017 would have definitely been one of the more interesting remakes since I think the original had a lot of unrealized potential. It's not a bad movie, I even have it on Blu-ray, but there's much more that could be done with the concept than what the original trilogy did. I agree with you stefancrosscoe that remaking it as a more realistic action/thriller would have been a wise move. I've never been the biggest fan of how the trilogy got increasingly supernatural. Would love the see the director's cut of Maniac Cop 3: Badge of Silence though.
