think the loser is toast hoping for a WC spot. be tough to go 5-7 and rattle off 4 straight hoping for help (although we've seen some ridiculous records get in over the past few years - correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't a .500 team or even a 7-9 team gotten in recently?)
