If it earns positive reviews and because of Pixar's still vibrant brand, it could perform similarly as Monsters University, which earned $268 million domestically. It has only two weeks to hold onto the family demographic before Despicable Me 3 opens, which will definitely gross more. I'll say it grossed over $250 million. This sounds reasonable. Cars 2, even with poor reviews, managed to make 191 million. If the third film is received even moderately well, we will probably see something between $225-250 million. Even if cars 3 is well reviewed (and I think it will be certified fresh on RT), the bad word of mouth for cars 2 will take its toll. Also, while pixar is still a vibrant brand, it's no longer an immune brand since good dinosaur flopped. I only see cars 3 doing 150 million domestic and 400 million worldwide.
