I like Neeson's Ra's al Ghul, too, but I'm not going to call him a great cinematic villain. He's just not. He's just a James Bond villain given the name of a Batman villain, but still enjoyable.
As for Nicholson's Joker: I prefer my actors to actually have to act to play the horrible, rude clown man. You have to like Nicholson's personality to enjoy his performances, and I don't.
