I'm not 100% sure but I'm pretty sure that Wonder Woman isn't a God in the movie. She was created by a God like all the Amazon's but she's not like Zeus or Ares.

Remember that whole "Only a God can kill another God" thing they kept repeating? It was to make it clear that Diana was considered to be a "God" level being.

Of course, that was messed up a bit by how she couldn't beat Steppenwolf on her own in JL but DC's always had that problem.
