Remember that whole "Only a God can kill another God" thing they kept repeating? It was to make it clear that Diana was considered to be a "God" level being.

Of course, that was messed up a bit by how she couldn't beat Steppenwolf on her own in JL but DC's always had that problem.

I mean if they had her solo Steppenwolf there wouldn't be a need for the Justice League.

It would be like if Marvel had Thor solo the entire alien army in The Avengers.
