Honestly, some of the dips who toss out the name are. "Antifa" is a lot like "Anonymous" - there is no uniform group of any sort, so any group of kids can don a black bandana and toss a garbage can at a Foot Locker window while shouting "I ARE ANTIFA!".  

Like any groups with no coherence, actual defining qualities (beyond "I'm against fascism!" and... that's pretty general, most are) or leadership of any sort, it attracts idiots as well as effective folks. 

Generally, my thoughts on antifa are "Don't run over them with cars".   There's better groups for effective protest. Hell, the Women's March group was and still is a far superior organization for protest.
