A few years ago I was a person who was proud to be called a 'SJW' and I would defend Communism as an idea.

Smart people change their perspectives when more facts and truths are revealed... Alas, I would not have been open to new knowledge if I dismissed it because 'It's from the Left' or 'It's from the Right'.

A closed mind that thinks it knows all the facts and has it's positions 'set in stone', is a stagnant mind.
