Another WW2 film set in Norway is The Heroes of Telemark (1965). I mention it here even though it was made well after the war because it stars birthday boy Kirk Douglas, who is now 101. There are scenes in SON OF LASSIE that takes place in Norway, too. IMHO, SOL is one of the best war movies I've seen, mostly because I've always been a great Lassie fan, LOL. To be honest, I rather like the movies about WWI better than those about WWII: namely. WINGS, THE BIG PARADE, ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT, HELL'S ANGELS, and THE DAWN PATROL. Of course, these films were made years after the hostilities ended, so the subject could be analyzed more deeply than it could when war fever raged. Same with WWII movies, for example the David Lean classic THE BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI. Although there was no question that Col. Saito was the villain of the piece, he was depicted as an educated, thinking man, unlike the "leering, yellow, buck-toothed monsters" of movies made during the war.
