Interesting question.  I believe the answer is that the truth of what happened in Palpatine's throne room is not known outside of Luke's circles.  In fact, canon sources reveal that false propaganda about Palpatine's survival was rampant. Canon sources also reveal that Han and Leia hid the secret of who Darth Vader was from Kylo up until five years before TFA.  It's entirely possible that what he knows is based on what Snoke has told him.



This one I disagree with.  I think we're supposed to watch ROTJ with the idea in mind that Vader is being seduced by the light side.  He hesitates and ponders several times during his interactions with Luke.  But to make it clearer, the canon novel Lords of the Sith includes several passages where Vader is tempted by the light side.
