Wonderful actor. His role as Commodus in Fall of the Roman Empire is one of my favorites. While I like Joaquin Phoenix, he couldn't hold a candle to Plummer in that role... 
His narration in the The Visual Bible: Gospel of John was great as well. I could listen to him read just about anything and be mesmerized.
