Flocki, oh Flocki...what has become of you. This pseudo-phliosopic/mystic stuff on Iceland is horrible.
I agree, I haven’t been overly interested in it so far. I think part of what made Floki so interesting to watch was his interaction with the other characters. When he’s just by himself...I’m just not that invested in what he’s up to (it’s about as interesting as Bjorn’s quest involving the bear – and I was on the bear’s side).
Ivar simply vanished in the historical records. It is not even kown what excactly happened to this psycho.
Though this^ might mean that they can do almost anything they want with him, which suggests they may keep him around long past when he’s outlived his usefulness on the show.
Ivar is nothing without the plot armour of the writers: all his ideas work - of course - perfectly out, nobody kills him even if he is alone facing 30 to 40 men.
It really does seem that way. It feels like Hirst is so fond of Ivar the character and the actor who portrays him that he’ll just have him keep succeeding, killing whoever, even though in the latest episode I watched Ivar was just sitting on the ground and roaring at people whilst covered in blood…and all I could think was, “Somebody just SHOOT HIM already!” – someone *did*, but sadly it was in the one part of him he couldn’t feel any pain (his leg). He’s really *not* as intimidating as he thinks he is/the show likes to make him out to be. He could actually quite easily be defeated...but as you said, I think his plot armour is too strong.
And ths king Harald sucks too
Yeah, he bores me.
The only two charcaters I like and root for are Lagertha and Ubbe,
Lagertha and Ubbe are really the only two characters I like at this point, too.
Nice to see Lagertha and Ubbe getting so much love here.
Of the English characters I don't mind Judith and Aethelwulf, and I do think Bishop Heahmund shows some promise, but we'll see what happens in the next few eps.
I’m surprised to find someone else who doesn’t mind Judith – everywhere I read comments for the show, most seem to not be too fond of her. I think she’s done well to last this long (shame about the ear though – that scene where she lost it still stands out in my memory as a particularly effective scene/moment).
The biggest crime of this season so far is...there hasn’t been nearly enough Lagertha! Seriously, Katheryn Winnick has her named bumped up to being the first in the opening credits...yet she wasn’t even in this second episode that I saw at all. Thankfully, she did appear in the preview for next weeks. Need more Lagertha!
