Guardians had the advantage of playing with unknown characters. So they were able to get away with it.

Flash, Cyborg and Aquaman deserved better.

Ok, but Guardians still developed those characters pretty deeply, along with their relationships to each other, so I'm not sure why Justice League needed more time to do that.

Because the story they wanted to tell couldn't be done in under 2 hours.

At least not in a way to leave a meaningful impact. This movie could have easily been a episode of a Justice League cartoon with how rushed the plot was.

Hell this could have been a straight to DVD Avengers movie for Marvel to make a quick buck.
