I agree on the Vader part, but completely disagree on the Kylo point. It appeared to me that Kylo was trying to win and got utterly destroyed.

Kylo was injured but I don’t see a good reason why he couldn’t destroy Finn in a second, a character he didn’t need unless one wants to claim that he didn’t want to upset Rey.
