I've got no dog in the fight with the supposed die-hard big-time Star Wars fans but I do agree that the film does spell most of this out.

It's one thing to argue that the movie beats came too fast and that it was detrimental to the story and characters, and that's a valid argument, but a lot of these criticisms are misguided because the film does answer many of these questions.

Thaaat's what I keep saying. But I've found a lot of them didn't understand the OT or the PT either. A lot of misinterpretations about the nature of the Force, especially. Some of the complaints about TFA are valid, including those about Rey. But most of them are founded on misinterpretation of the OT.
