Thor, Loki, Warmachine, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, Spiderman, Black Panther, Valkyrie, Falcon, Winter Soldier, Drax, Ant-man, Yondu, Nebula... all were played by relative unknowns. Or at least by actors who are not readily recognizable to the general public. Even Chris Pratt wasn't that recognizable a name.
And that's not even including the villains.
Thor, Loki and War Machine were back at the beginning of the MCU. Paul Rudd was not an unknown, he's been around forever as a comedic lead which is exactly what he was in Ant-Man. Regardless, do any of these characters have the notoriety of Magneto with the general public? Only Spider-Man-- and they needed a fresh face which was the whole point in the direction they were going with that character. Terrible argument.
The villains usually aren't nobodies either, so it's a good thing you didn't try listing them as well. Jeff Bridges was the villain in the first MCU film! Are you going to say Hugo Weaving was a nobody when he was cast? Academy award nominee Mickey Rourke? Robert Redford? Guy Pearce? Ben Kingsley? Let me know when the nobodies show up. I guess you're going to try to sell Ronan as a character of equal stature to Magneto.
So yeah, considering where the MCU is now in terms of poularity, there's no way they cast a
So you addressed Thor, Loki, Warmachine and Antman but then ignored the rest? Your original argument is that the MCU only cast unknowns during their beginning. I just proved to you that majority of the characters they cast till present day were still mostly unknowns, then you try to slip around it by saying they don't count because they're not notorious?
Of course they're not as famous as Magneto, all of the MCU gallery were never A listers before the MCU made them one, but it didn't stop the MCU from making them all loved anyway. The first time the MCU got their hands on an A-lister they proved they had no issues casting an unknown (Spiderman). You can say they only did that to Spiderman because they needed a fresh face but in the end that's only your excuse. That reasoning can apply to nearly every MCU character and Magneto and the rest of the X-men would be no exception.
You can make excuses for them all you want, bottom line is the MCU has a history of casting unknowns. In fact other than RDJ, Bradley Cooper and Benedict Cumberbatch, pretty much every lead character they've cast was given to a non-lead actor at the time they gave it to them.
