It's been many years since I've seen it, but remember that I thought it to be confusing, and the leading actors quit boring. Pia Degermark who had her big break as Elvira Madigan in 1967, and like Jones was thought to be international stars of the future. But Degermark only did this one and two more movies, one in Italy called Una breve stagione/Brief Season 1969 (also with Jones incidentally) and a West-German horror comedy called Gebissen wird nur nachts - das Happening der Vampire/Vampire Happening 1971) In 1991, Degermark was sentenced to 14 months in prison for fraud and assault. In 2006 her autobiography was published, Gud räknar kvinnors tårar (loosely translated: God Counts Womens Tears). Christopher Jones was, if I remember correct, one of many actors who has been labeled "The New James Dean". Reading her bio blurb on IMDb, I see she really had a sad experience. She had been privileged enough to dance with the Swedish crown prince and to star in films, but, as you say, ended up in prison. Btw, was she a natural blonde or brunette? Most of her pictures show her as blonde, and she was blonde in The Looking Glass War, but a few of the pictures on the internet show her with dark hair.
