Once you've seen all the usual movies and are looking for something different, these might be interesting.
Warriors of the Rainbow: Seediq Bale (2011) - From Taiwan. Based on the Wushe Rebellion (1930) it's about the resistance of the indigenous Taiwanese people against Imperial Japan at the beginning of the 20th century. It's a long film, but it moves along nicely. Beautiful scenery and lots of action.
My Way (2011) - From Korea. Loosely based on the true story of a Korean man who was conscripted into the Japanese army, then captured by the Russians, then captured by the Germans and finally captured by the Americans at Normandy. It has its flaws but it also has a great depiction of the desperate battles of the Khalkin Gol (Japan vs Soviet Union, 1939) where Zhukov earned his first glory.
