Ideally I too would prefer if Laurie wasn't Myers' sister and this movie took place a year after the original with The Shape mysteriously back in Haddonfield to terrorise an entirely new set of characters. Of course, this would mean excluding Jamie Lee Curtis from the movie but I can live with that because I think it would benefit the story overall. Once the sister angle is removed, there's little reason for her to be involved anyway since Myers would have no tangible motive to continue specifically stalking her. Of course, Curtis is on board (presumably still as Laurie) and obviously looks significantly older so I'm guessing the movie must be set many years later with him still pursuing her either as his sister or not. Also, the rumoured re-casting of Nick Castle at 70 years old as The Shape, could only really be justified if the story takes place 30-40 years later.
Hopefully with Carpenter and Castle involved, they'll finally manage to choose a decent mask - something we've not seen since 1981!
