Because the way the second Thor film worked wasn't up to snuff so they injected some variety in. And it worked.
Did you read the actual Ragnarok storyline? It wasn't like LOTR.
FoX-Men, people who can't let go of the past and are stuck in the year 2000.
Thankfully Disney is going to pull X-Men into the future.
