And why would you be talking about the recent trilogy when we're talking about Fox X-men in its entirety? Even if you take the latest trilogy, I'm pretty sure Mystique wasn't part of the original X-men nor is the Phoenix saga part of the first class storyline. Technically, there weren’t any X-Men until the very end of Apocalypse. The team you see in First Class isn’t officially the X-Men, just a group of mutants Chuck got together to fight Shaw. At the end of the film he shows no interest in forming a superhero team that Moria suggest. Even the filmmakers said that weren’t real X-Men but sort of a proto-version. In regards to Mystique they were combining Xavier’s origin in the 616 with the Ultimate version. In the Ultimate version Mystique was the lover of Xavier but then later sided with Magneto after he crippled him(the plot of First Class). In the 616 Xavier had a fall out with his step-sibling Juggernaut and then exiled himself in the mansion(the plot of DOFP). In short, Mystique is met to be a set-in for Juggy. There was no Phoenix in the First Class films either. The plot synopsis of Dark Phoenix confirms that wasn’t the Phoenix Force but Jean’s base power. Uhuh... sure. That's a lot of uh... comic gymnastics to put those together. In the end though you just proved that the X-men movies have very little similarity with their source material. And that's considering that you're trying to not address all the older X-men movies prior to the latest trilogy... i.e. majority of their movies.
