No, there is no Ultimate version where Mystique is the sister of Xavier or that she's the leader of the X-men or that her skin is scaled. You had to make some jumps and combinations just to find a way to find a connection. Whereas a black Nick Fury and a gun-using Captain America are direct characteristics of their Ultimate versions. I didn’t make jumps. The filmmakers even admitted that they pulled from the Ultimate version. And yes, Marvel Studios has made similar combinations. Hela wasn’t Thor’s sister either but Angela. Did you miss the part where I said Mystique being the leader was one of those massive shifts? Yes, they made a change to Hela's origins. Which brings me back to square one: The MCU has made some minor changes to characters but stay true mostly to source material. Fox characters are mostly different from source material apart from some few similarities. Take Hela vs. Mystique for example. Sure, they made Hela Thor's sister but she's still the goddess of death, her costume is still comic accurate, she's still excessively powerful, etc. On the other hand, Mystique shares the same powers with comic Mystique but that's about it. Her look is different, her age is different, her role in the X-men is different, she's a hero and a leader of the X-men, her attitude is different, her back story is different, heck she's even got superstrength. |
