I saw Jumanji 2 a couple of hours ago (bear with me here, I do make a point that's on topic), and I enjoyed it, why you may ask? Because it was a fun 2 hours of escapism, and I had a fun time watching the film - probably one of the most fun film experiences I've seen in recent years - and being an enjoyable experience to sit through, not some arthouse type film, which is precisely what the trolls think that the MCU should be. Newsflash: they're doing well with being enjoyable experiences of escapism, so try as you please to moan that the MCU isn't artistic, and that it's too focused on CGI and jokes (which are what make the MCU enjoyable, the jokes more so than the CGI), but, that's what makes the MCU as beloved as it is, they're not trying to make masterpieces, they're just trying to make fun, enjoyable films. *drops mic*We go through these arguments over and over again because some people don't want to come out of the capes and spandex closet. Instead, they'd prefer to redecorate their hiding place to be dark and gloomy - somehow, that will make it more respectable. All of this posturing because you can't reconcile the idea that, as an adult, you can enjoy a sultry Shiraz, a foreign film and still read comic books. People need to take comic books and comic book movies for what they are instead of trying to turn them into high-art. Well said. It's long passed the point ridiculousness that we're still having these idiotic arguments.
