But if they wanted a popular white actress for the role, why Reese? She hasn’t had a hit she solely lead in 15 years. She was never a box office star; the media made her out to be. I mean, I guess they could have asked ten other actresses who each said 'no', but perhaps it could have been a budgetary decision- she was the cheapest 'name-actress' going around and they didn't want to spend too much money after hiring Oprah? I dunno. I mean, I have no problem with Reese as an actress (I think I've seen 3 movies of hers? An old one she did as a teen, WATER FOR ELEPHANTS, and the Chris Pine-starring THIS MEANS WAR), although I do find it sad we could have had Lupita. I could believe she used to be a star and became something more tangible and mortal, to help fight the evil/darkness. Uh...Reese Witherspoon was a teen when she appeared in Water for Elephants (which, after all, came out in 2010 and she stopped being a teen in the 1990s.:-) ). That's an elephantine mistake, Jumbo.
