The use of English in Indian films

I have not seen any Indian movie in over ten years but that is how most of the people in urban India speak in everyday life. In my school (it was a catholic school) we were fined for speaking in Hindi except in Hindi class. I paid 5 Rs for getting caught speaking in Hindi on two occasions. So most people would learn an OK English but at home parents speak in Hindi so most of the people who grew up in 90s or later have developed a habit of mixing Hindi and English. I was very poor in both English and Hindi and in fact barely passed in Hindi in my Matric exam.
