The northern state of Washington doesn't have that much snow--mostly heavy rains from the Pacific coast. We do east of the Cascades. Our first two winters here in our eastern Washington city, we got 82 inches ('07-'08) and 97 inches ('08-'09). Here's our place one morning at the start of that second winter (when I was snapping pics because snow was still a novelty to this SoCal boy): EDIT: Hey, that's not the Doghouse! Curses! Foiled by Photobucket. Well, trust me: it was a picture of a house and a buncha snow. Here's one of our downtown in Jan '09 instead.
Our average is about 45; last winter was 61 inches. We actually get relatively little rain, and what we do get tends to come in brief bursts. In ten years here, I've never opened an umbrella. I know Oregon also gets more snow on the east side than the west, but I don't know how much. And there you have it: more than you ever wanted to know about winters in eastern WA, and less than you wanted to know about OR (I used to work on the MGM lot where most of SBFSB was shot, but the only snow you could find there was either phony or illegal).
