I am about half and half on Lubitsch: some times the "Lubitsch Touch" works for me and some times it doesn't I will be totally finished watching all of his sound feature films by the end of this month and may have a few comments about him after I finish (I have also seen a lot of the movies listed below over the last 20 years.) I may just add my comments to this thread rather than creating another thread In the meantime, for those who would like to have a basic set of Ernst Lubitsch movies--by using your DVR, for recording and storage, the end of January may be your best time to gather a pretty good set. Below are the dates and times of his late January showings below (all time will refer to EST): January--- 16 - 9:15 AM - That Uncertain Feeling (1941) 16 - 2:00 PM - Ninotchka (1939) 18 - 8:00 PM - Cluny Brown (1946) 24 - 7:30 AM - Merry Widow, The (1934) 24 - 8:15 AM - Ninotchka (1939) (again) 24 - 11:15 AM - Wildcat, The (1921) [silent] 24 - 12:45 PM - Student Prince in Old Heidelberg, The (1927) [silent] 24 - 2:45 PM - Cluny Brown (1946) (again) 24 - 4:30 PM - To Be or Not to Be (1942) 24 - 6:15 PM - Shop Around the Corner, The (1940) (1942) 24 - 11:00 PM - Trouble in Paradise (1932) (This clever story was my introduction to Lubitsch) 29 - Midnight - Bluebeard's Eighth Wife (1938) This TCM list is be no means his complete feature films, but it covers much of his basics....including a couple rather rare silents. -------------------------------------- Oh, if only I could find an extant copy of The Patriot (1928).
