Nolan is only familiar with Batman and to an extent Superman, he is by no means a comic book expert - hence why David S. Goyer was brought in to assist in developing the stories for his trilogy and co-wrote the screenplay for Batman Begins. I don't think Nolan would want to spend the rest of his career either trying to be DC's Kevin Feige when he'd rather make his own movies.
