So I'm watching the movie AA and how this kid goes to confession. And the priest tells him that he has to do like 3 Hail Mary's and 3 Lord's Prayer and then he is off the hook or forgiven or whatever. It hits me right away at how everything, from thinking that one does something wrong through sin to the penance doled out is all just made up by humans. I mean, first of all the kid didn't sin. It's just a bunch of guilt tripping bullshit and then the penance is created to make him feel better. Just a bunch of bullshit made up entirely by humans to somehow make themselves feel bad then better all from a book of a bunch of made up stories by other humans. Religion is bogus. What did the boy confess? I remember my confession when I was about 8 or 9 and we never really focused on sin (as children). It was more what were some things you want to do better to be more like Jesus? Typical admissions of pouting when my mom or dad told me to do something or teasing my little sisters. The priest told me to give them hugs and tell them I love them. It wasn't really a case of being told you need to be forgiven. It was more trying to live like Jesus would helps us feel His love and show it to others. Seems like you had a more enlightening priest than this boy did.
