There was a show back in the mid-90s that I really enjoyed called Strange Luck. It was about a guy who survived a plane crash as a kid and now worked as a freelance photographer. Weird stuff always happened when he was around, it was kind of a case of the week procedural with a larger wrap around mystery story. He would hang around at this diner and pay for his meals with whatever he won from scratch tickets, fun stuff like that. DB Sweeney in the starring role. You can find the show on youtube and I have to admit the show feels very dated if you try to watch it now. It only lasted one season, but you can't beat the premise. It's noir at its finest with limitless storytelling potential.
