That really was a great year. Didn't realize how many great films.
Who Framed Roger Rabbit? - just a fun movie that features a lot of great animation and performances 9/10 A Fish Called Wanda - hilarious film with a brilliant performance by Kevin Kline 10/10 Mississippi Burning - if I graded on accuracy would get a low score but I grade on quality and this is a very powerful film 9/10 Rain Man - I was actually more impressed with Cruise's performance 7/10 Die Hard - lived up to the high expectations, and more 10/10 Big - another film I thought was going to be typical Hollywood but it was funny and even kinda touching 9/10 Working Girl - one of my favorite films of this year, great cast, uplifting story 10/10 The Naked Gun - one of the most funniest films ever made, a true classic 10/10 Bull Durham - one of the best baseball movies, Costner was actually great in this film 10/10 Eight Men Out - another great baseball film, stellar cast 10/10 Beetlejuice - oddly, I found Keaton one of the weaker parts of this film but still a very fun film 8/10 Heathers - funny, dark, highly literate, one of the best 'teen' films of the 80s 10/10 Dirty Rotten Scoundrels - has some absolutely hilarious moments, Martin was at his best during this period of his career 8/10 Scrooged - it works best during Christmas, and Murray is a great modern American Scrooge but it is uneven 8/10 Funny Farm - one of the forgotten great comedies ever made, I love this film, the quirky characters and Chevy Chase is terrific 10/10 Biloxi Blues - it never quite works, some good moments and a nice cast 7/10
A truly superb year in films.
