There's no way this movie's production budget was close to $400 million. I find it hard to believe that it was $300 million (a figure that I have yet to see in any official source). Is Marvel beating the heck out of DC in the movie universe war? Yes it is! Did WB want Justice League to make more money than it is making? Absolutely! Is Justice League a total failure? No, it is not. It is a minor success. I don't think it is a minor success, either. It's a write off. It'll might make it's money back with the Whedon cut... maybe. They're going to cut their losses there. With all the reshoots they did, that can add up. Solo will be in the same boat since they reshot almost the entire movie and brought in a new actor to replace one that couldn't return for the reshoots. I understand your point but believe me the studio isn't losing money. Merchandising, promotions, home video, streaming and TV rights will more than turn a profit. The question is whether or not this is a box office success. The rule of thumb for box office success has nothing to do with profit. It is twice the production budget. If a movie makes that at the world wide box office than it is called a box office success and is deemed worthy of sequels.
