Whenever this subject comes up, I am reminded of the movie It's A Wonderful Life (1946), and the glimpse George Bailey (Jimmy Stewart) gets, courtesy of his guardian angel Clarence, of just what kind of horrible town his beloved Bedford Falls would have turned into, if he had never been born, and the evil Mr Potter (Lionel Barrymore) had been allowed to transform it into 'Potterville'.
Suffice it to say, that with each passing day, I get the distinct impression our world is moving more and more in a 'Potterville' direction, than that of the idyllic Bedford Falls......
