I had a feeling about who you were talking to but I had to logout to confirm it. That poster is also on my ignore list. As you said, it isn't about disagreement; the different perspectives offered are what makes forums like these fun. But this poster is incapable of intelligent discussion and brings nothing to the table in terms of perspective-- they just want to tell you you're wrong over and over again. I've only blocked three people, so it's a rare honor that I think there is zero value in reading their posts, let alone responding to their incoherent babbling after quoting me. He's the first one I've set to ignore on this site. At first I kind of liked him. He seemed genuine. I don't agree with lapping up whatever a company tries to sell me just because of the history involved, but I can appreciate an optimist. I really can. At first I thought the optimism was genuine. Then one day there was a paragraph-long tirade telling me and another poster to do a dozen different ungodly things to ourselves. It came out of nowhere. People said "report him," and I didn't. But then after that, it became a steady barrage of him quoting me and disparaging me in the silliest of ways. It got annoying, so I put him on ignore and then the real fun started. If someone told me I was put on ignore, I'd either be glad because the feeling was mutual or I'd be embarrassed and stop making a big deal out of it. Possibly, I may even apologize if I enjoyed the back-and-forth with the person in question. But what I certainly would not do is follow the person around the board and antagonize them, troll them and continue to bring up the fact that I had been put on ignore, nor would I ask to be banned, for that matter. It's funny, I let this guy post several "gotcha" negative posts about me before I started complaining. You'd think he'd be happy that got not only "the last word," but the last four words! But, nope. The fact that I didn't respond seemed to just fuel the fire. The final straw for me was when I made a non-argumentative post in one of their clearly troll-baiting threads, and they went off on me anyway. I essentially said the new trilogy wasn't for me but I still think the franchise had potential; their reply said something about "...go away, we don't want you, Star Wars is family!" I don't waste my time talking to idiots in real life, I'm not doing it on the internet. To take things back on topic in this thread, I'm a "Love the OT, think the PT had good ideas but poor execution, loved Rogue One, hate the ST" guy. I'm hoping for a serious course correction next time out, but it doesn't look promising. The good news is they're running out of OT characters to butcher.
