I preferred the slasher serial killer feel to the death trap gratuitous kill scenes feel. I was never a big fan of the Saw franchise until I plowed through and got to Hoffman.
I felt differently, every movie I wanted him to be killed off. Nice twist on SAW IV, but after that he was just a Freddy with no charisma IMNSHO
