Long story short, my father-in-law is not American (I am) but loves westerns. In his vacation house, he doesn't get a lot of useful internet signal, so I usually bring him a DVD of a western and we'll watch together. This time I brought a box set of "Deadwood." We both loved it (my first time seeing it too) and it makes me wonder...why isn't Timothy Olyphant a bigger leading man? The remake of "The Crazies" has him largely at the helm and he projects an aura of capable though gruff action hero. He reminds me a lot of Harrison Ford. I'd like to see more of him. Anyone agree? This guy oozes a combination of Bruce Willis/Harrison Ford...to me at least. Deadwood is brilliant. Travesty that it was ended too soon and we will probably never get the several 2 hour movies that HBO promised. Even more annoying is Deadwood was (supposedly) ended because David Milch wanted to make the moronic John From Cincinnati. Then his racehorse series was ended because they kept killing the poor horses. Anyway I'm a big Olyphant fan and he was excellent on Deadwood. Never has the profane been so poetic. I see you have ordered Justifed as well. Also a great series. Like Deadwood the entire cast is amazing. Maybe the two best ensemble casts ever. I love how even the town drunks are philosophers even though they don't mean to be. Walt Goggins as Boyd Crowder is every bit as good as Olyphant and maybe even a bit better. Goggins is always great and should be a much bigger star than he is already. Too bad he's not the classic pretty boy or the classic dumpy looking comedic goofball. He does comedy and drama equally well. I'm sure you and your dad will enjoy Justified as well. If you have never seen Go you should check that out as well. TO was a standout in an early role there as well and it's a very good if a bit underrated movie.
