Would you pronounce Welsh as Weltch or Wel sh ? There is a company here famous for grape jam (preserves) that is pronounced as if it has a "T" in it ... in some parts of the country that is ! When I was in Wales with a English friend he laughed at my pronunciation The grape company is spelled Wel ch's, so you're right, and ask your British friend about that...or if he/she perhaps ever well-shez on a bet or shane-jez clothes. On second thought, maybe not; your friend might start talking to you about shed-jules.
