He decides to take over his group and lead them to wipe out Humanity because of what happened to him in the Holocaust, when in truth the one who killed his family was a Mutant. Wrong on both counts. No where is it implied that Magneto and the Hellfire club want to wipe out humanity. Erik's actions say otherwise. His motive was revenge on Shaw first and foremost, he never acknowledges this nor does he ever think that Mutants can be just as bad as the worst of Humanity.
