Apart from this, having an implied smashed head (you do not see it) is completely different from the sadistic mayham of a protagonist slowly making a coin penetrate the antagonist's head and seeing it exit again, (red) CGI blood included.
Yeah, one is just a bad guy getting killed and the other shows how psychotic and vicious the bad guy is that he'd do such a depraved thing. That's Countess Elizabeth Báthory de Ecsed level stuff.
One is traumatically memorable, the other one not so much.
Yeah, it's why no one really cares about Shaw or mentions him except hardcore FoX-Men fans while GOTG is still seen as a modern classic space opera.
